Luke and Dori's Double Sided Quilt Chuppah

Friends and family members contributed squares to create this chuppah, which will also be Luke and Dori's quilt.  We were delighted with the talent and creativity with which people approached this project, but especially with the love they put into it, which made a chuppah that is a true reflection of the community that surrounds Luke and Dori.  For the back of the chuppah, I created a design similar to the wedding invitation, which Dori had drawn herself.  The various techniques used by contributors included quilting, embroidery, ironing on fabric, fabric crayons and paints, and photo transfer.  The groom' brother and sister-in-law even sewed two stuffed animals on to their square!  For the back of the quilt, I used batik.

The chuppah was hung vertically outside the tent during the party. Looking at the squares and guessing who had made each one was a wonderful way for people to meet.
